Football World Cup 2014 Fan Zone

Production Science worked with Wasserman Media Group, Arena Structures, ES Global, Aggreko and Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy to provide HVAC, HVAC control, Power Distribution, Secondary lighting, Life Safety, Network and IT systems for a temporary fan zone venue, complete with opening roof. This project was designed as a test case to ensure that Qatar is ready for the FIFA Football World Cup 2022 and can provide suitably cooled hospitality for the visiting fans. 10MW of power and cooling was provided and operated. The brief included requirements for data capture and monitoring for cooling performance and subsequent analysis. On site synchronised SQL database servers were used to record data in real time and custom written code provided real time analysis of cooling conditions, enabling the operations team to make decisions on cooling and roof opening to ensure a comfortable visitor experience.
