Al Enna Project

DOHA: Al Enna Project, a pilot tourism development project spearheaded by National Tourism Council (NTC) to enhance the winter camping experience in Qatar, protect the environment, and ensure public safety, ran for 9 months in the Al Enna dunes in the Sealine area of Qatar.

Under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Al Enna is supported by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, the Ministry of Interior, the Public Works Authority Ashghal, Qatar Olympic Committee, Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation, Batabit, Mawater, Katara Hospitality and QSports.

This project was a civil engineering undertaking of major proportions. Every winter, the Qatar families love to camp in the heritage dunes area – a 10km stretch of soft sand dessert in the Sealine resort area. The Qatar tourism authority invested in the building of temporary and permanent supporting infrastructure and and entertainment facilities on a grand scale.

Led by our customer,  Fischer Appelt, the development of the site took place over a three month period and our role was to supply temporary power distribution for the whole project at all locations.

Starting Point: Al Seef Beach Area

Visitors to Al Enna can begin their experience at Al Seef – a Sealine beach area which has been developed to temporarily accommodate 15,000 people, with sufficient amenities (including showers) and a giant screen on which main activities are displayed. The beach area includes 30 food and beverage outlets, beach cabins and chairs which can be rented and a children’s play area. The beach is fully staffed with security personnel, lifeguards, technicians, and other support staff. Al Seef is operated and managed by Sealine Beach Resort, while Qatar Olympic Committee is providing sporting activities including beach football, beach volleyball, and basketball.

Dedicated quad-biking and drag racing tracks

Beyond the beach, visitors can rent quad-bikes and ATVs in a new 300,000 square meter space designed to provide safe and integrated experiences for biking fans. The area features eight floodlit biking tracks catering to riders of different abilities and requirements: one for ladies, four for beginners and children, one for intermediate-level bikers, one for advanced-level bikers, and one for professionals. The latter will host contests and challenges organised by Batabit (Qatar Centre for Motorcycles).

The Batabit zone has 32 temporary restaurants and cafes, with full water and electricity amenities, air conditioning, and flooring. It also offers a variety of services in the form of 28 motorcycle rental shops, complete with parking spaces, a fuel supply zone, storage areas, power supply, and fire extinguishers.

Adjacent to this area is the Mawater zone, which is built to host spectator drag races, ensuring the safety of both contestants and viewers.

Reach out to Asia 2011

Production Science were delighted to be contracted to provide power services for WRG’s production of the Reach Out to Asia charity Gala Dinner. Hosted by Hugh Grant, the auction of Damien Hirst and other major art works was held to raise funds for those in need of quality education in Asia. Synchronised generator supplies were required to supplement existing house supplies and integration with existing wiring had to be achieved in a tight time frame.

FIFA Club World Cup 2010

We supplied AV, Power, Field of Play lighting backup, CCTV and MATV systems for this prestigious football tournament, held in two stadia in Abu Dhabi. This was one of the first jobs to be serviced from our new UAE warehouse. We also were part of the team responsible for refurbishing the stadia during 2009. This job required a total of around 20 MW of generators from three suppliers, as well as four 40ft containers of cable and mains distro from our rental stock.
